Good evening!
This is just a quick site update to share some personal professional news.
I recently became a Teacher for TigerWings, a STEM-based, career exploration after school program in Auburn, Alabama.
As a “nonprofit education company dedicated to igniting curiosity in children by utilizing STEM activities and industry programming,” TigerWings boasts a unique program. By forging connections between public school students (K-5) and career individuals and community organizations, we help students connect the dots between their daily learning and the wider professional world around them.
TigerWings is built on industry programming, with a focus on helping children understand that a guided vision and a passion for what we do is often all one needs to succeed in life. Higher education is great and necessary sometimes, but not always the path to success.
We aim to bring professionals from a variety of industries to our program, as there are so many opportunities for learning and career knowledge that public schools don’t have time for. We want to inspire children to see problems in their daily lives and generate creative strategies to fix them, along with an understanding that career diversity is real and alive all around us.
As a contributing member of TigerWings, I have been given the opportunity to bring my creativity and passion for Literacy to the program and to incorporate a more-developed Reading curriculum. I look forward to helping these young, developing Readers succeed in all their life endeavors–one word at a time.
To be continued…
