Allison Barilone has been reading since early childhood, and loves to read as an adult. Her favorite author is John Irving, and one of her most prized possessions is a signed copy of one of his novels.
She currently works as a teacher with the Auburn, Alabama after-school TigerWings program. She freelances as a professional reader and writer for several online outlets. You can visit her LinkedIn profile to see her current projects and published work.
She graduated from Auburn University in 2018 with a B.A. in Journalism and a Psychology minor. She plans to return to Auburn University to complete a Master’s in Reading Education, and hopes to learn more about reading disorders, including Dyslexia. Her focus is on K-12 readers.
A dedicated Literacy advocate, she believes in the value of reading education. She aims to work professionally as a Reading Specialist, to help children and adults gain confidence in their ability to read, write, and spell proficiently. (She is also human, which means that she uses Spell Check and makes mistakes in her own reading and writing. Constant reading, writing and attention to detail are her greatest allies.)
Her passion for Literacy has compelled her to create Rising Readers Tutoring Service (Facebook link) in an attempt to reach early and struggling readers. At this time, she is not equipped to professionally diagnose or assist with significant reading disorders, but can assist with resources and recommendations.
She’s always between pages, and looks forward to hearing from you!
